My Reviews and Comments About Various Places I Have Visited
Cedar Point
"America's Roller Coast," "Thrill Seeker's Paradise," "Roller Coaster Capital of the World," "World's Best Amusement Park"... whatever you prefer to call it, Cedar Point is, indeed, one of the most exciting places I have ever visited. If you like amusement parks, and especially roller coasters, Cedar Point is THE entertainment destination for you. With 17 roller coasters and a plentiful supply of other rides and attractions, CP will likely become a favorite of almost anyone who visits.
My Cedar Point ride comments:
Magnum XL 200:
Quite probably my favorite roller coaster, Magnum XL 200 takes rider 200+ feet into the air, and drops them into an amazing sequence of hills, turns, and tunnels. That, in addition to the great view of Lake Erie at the top of the second hill, makes this one of my all time favorites.
Millenium Force:
A smooth ride... but extremely intense, Millenium Force, standing ominously at over 300 feet and overlooking Lake Erie, provides riders with a very thrilling experience. Though it may be a little too intense for my liking, the coaster doesn't seem to drive to many people away. You can expect a good hour+ wait on an average day at the park... at least from what I've experienced. "What makes it so intenese?" you ask? G-Force... and a lot of it! The ride is very smooth, from what I can remember-- hardly any "jerkiness"-- but the extreme G-Forces literaly cause me to "half-black-out" every time I ride it... not exactly what I call fun. Still, Millenium Force is a very popular ride.
Mantis:
I highly do NOT recommend this coaster. "Why?" Well, I don't really enjoy feeling like my entire cirulatory sytem has dropped into my legs... but maybe that's just me. Mantis is a Stand Up roller coaster... the only I have ever ridden... so I cannot honestly compare it to other coasters of it's kind, but, as far as coasters go in general, Mantis is definitely the most intense I have ever been on.
Top Thrill Dragster:
Top Thrill Dragster, though only providind about 30 seconds of ride time, stands at an extremely intimidating 420 feet and, to get riders up that hill, launches them from 0 to about 120 mph in just a few short seconds. In spite of these semi-terrifying specs, I found Top Thrill Dragster to be a surprisingly gentle ride... well, at least as far a g-forces go... and the ride is over very quickly, so it's almost like you don't even have time to worry to much about it! (Most of the worrying and nausea just happens while standing in the queue line staring at the ride.) However, the ride has been known to provide a few thrill-seekers with a somewhat unexpected thrill. On rare occasionas, the train will not have launched with enough power to clear the one and only hill, and will drop backwards. Signs in the queue line tell riders not to worry if this happens to them, because (basically) the ride is desiged to take it.
Mean Streak:
A massive woodie, Mean Streak was really an enjoyable ride. The first time I rode it, it seemed very jerky, but the second time didn't seem as bad. Maybe I sat in a different part of the train... I don't really know. Anyway, overall, it was pretty much your average coaster in my opinion, but a good one. I would definitely recommend adding this ride to your "to-do list" for a visit to Cedar Point.
Gemini:
Gemini is a racing woodie with steel tracks. By "racing," I mean that two trains leave the station at the same time, and, well, race! (...on two separate tracks of course!) I enjoyed this ride, and, after riding some of the "giants" at Cedar Point, I think it almost seemed relaxing!
Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad:
If you're getting kind of worn out by all of the excitment of being at America's Roller Coast, or if you just want to relax for a while, a ride on the Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad is a great way to unwind a bit.
Wicked Twister:
Intense... but mostly just in the head. Waiting for the launch on this inverted coaster is probably the worst part-- the ride itself, though looking straight down at the ground is somewhat terrifying, is not too bad. Not as intense as Millenium Force, but a scarier experience than Magnum XL 200.
